This is nice and cheery Fiona. A chap at my artclub often paints washes with Quink ink. I'm amazed how the colour seems to change from black to a light brown to almost yellow, depending on the amount of water added. You have reminded me, I must buy a bottle and experiment.

Lovley watercolour Fiona, very nice composition and colours

Love this, Fiona! As Stephen says, it's really cheery, and I love the vibrant colors.

I've never used inks Fiona. It's a lovely effect, very direct and cheerful.

I have just spent a happy half-hour browsing your portfolio. You have some wonderful paintings - and a lot of variety. My particular favourites? Suilven again (no 20) approaching storm (21) and Cleo(74) - but really - they are all interesting, even the ones you call "messy"

love the blue of the chicken house, especially the right side which is a bit brighter and makes the corner stand out, I think this is one of your best!

Thank you all very much for taking the time to look and comment, I really appreciate your feedback.

Love the vibrant blues you've used on the shed Fiona makes it really stand out against the muted greens of the foreground. A great pen and wash painting.

This is lovely, Fiona, and gives an indication of your versatility. I love the colours you have chosen. As for inspiration, look again at all the great feedback above and on your other postings! And I, for one, always visit this site hoping that there is something from you.

Fiona-- Beautiful work Ilike it very much,-- so fresh

i do like the way you have approached this one - simple but so effective - I haven't tried soluble ink in this way but I might give it try - i do like this pieceT

I also really like this lovely fresh picture. It's a simple image but it's extremely effective. I like those chickens, the colours and the way that you've painted the trees behind that dark fence!

Super little shed and I love those chickens. Great use of the paper surface.

Thank you Val, the main blue on the shed is Windsor blue, ( I think) with a splash or two of ultra marine. Lionel, thank you so much for your kind words, that's a lovely thing to say and I really do appreciate it. X Thank you Charles, I'm still trying with these inks.

Thank you Michael for your comments....I like simple. I think you would get some great effects with soluable inks. Thank you Louise, I have a confession to make regarding the tree's on the left, they went badly wrong, looked terrible, so I put the fence there to hide them!!! Thank you very much Lesley.

It's all been said before, but I do also like the little details like the plank of wood nailed over the window and the corn bucket.

Great painting Fiona. I love it...I shall now look at my hen house in a different light...I was going to change the colour but didn't get around to doing during the summer.

Thank you Sarah, thank you Irene glad you like it.

This is really my kind of taste! Beautiful pen and wash: my favourite technique and old sheds are one of my favourite subjects. Super! You deserve all the comments, they are all right!

Lovely colours on the chicken shed Fiona - I really like it.

This is superb!

Pen & wash of a friends old chicken shed. It was the bright blue corrugated panels that caught my eye. I'm desperately trying to get some inspiration to start watercolour painting again. It's on fairly rough paper done with black 'Quink' soluble ink, some I put on before the washes and some I added afterwards just to sharpen it up a bit.
