Semur-en-Auxois situated in the Burgundy area of France. I had a photo of Semur but it was taken during midday and a bit too bright as I wanted to capture it with the sun low in the sky so I had to make a note of the tones and hues of what the colours would be like at that time of day. Lots of artists sketch the town as it is very picturesque with the attractive houses. The magnificent fortress looks onto the pretty valley of the River Armancon, by night the gigantic towers and ramparts of the magnificent Fortress are softly illuminated to create a spectacle all of their own. oil on canvas 30"x20".
