Jenny , John , Russell and Christine thank you for your comments. I will be honest and admit I really overwhelmed with all the positive things that you all said, genuinely unexpected.

I live too close to the sea to not get emotional about a boat in trouble! Very effective, Paul!

Excellent drawing!

Great work this Paul. Like the trawler, you've captured the shape well and I like the combination of materials and paper too.

The contrasts work really well on the grey paper Paul. I like it a lot, it's a great drawing.

A5 pen and pastel sketch on grey toned paper, another attempt to draw using penny and pastel. The only pastel used is white for the soft looking areas , the bright white is from an acrylic pen. Inspired by a photo fro 1910 /20 of a Lowestoft steam trawler that’s been driven ashore in a storm having lost power. Not unknown for these boats to have the boiler doused by flooding in heavy seas , often put out to prevent them exploding.
