The atmosphere in this is just fantastic. You can feel the drizzly cold day.

Love it, Paul. I think I shall join that queue.

A wonderful painting Paul that captures all that nostalgia from days gone by. Absolute treasure.

Lovely nostalgic painting, Paul with the people eager to get out of the rain! I remember trams like this in Newcastle in my childhood. Lovely idea to name the shop after your grandfather.

Wonderful painting Paul of a by gone era. You have caught the lights beautifully.

Lovely painting and full of reminiscences - good one Paul

Thank you Carrie, David, Chris, Anne , Denise and Heather for very kind comments, I’m pleased it brought back memories for some of you , it certainly did for me .

A lovely nostalgic painting full of narratives from the past. Great little touches and details of such interest to us older people Paul.

Interesting painting Paul, I had only ever seen trams at Blackpool till recently, when we went to Nottingham. The trams there look very plush and modern.

A wonderful tribute to your grandfather Paul, he would have been very proud of your achievements. I’ve never seen a tram on the streets, I’ve only seen and been on one at a Crich on the family Sunday days out. Great painting and historical notes.

Thank you Carole, Frank and Fiona for your kind comments. I only remember them from when I was very young Fiona as we move away and when we returned that had stopped using them. I want to go to Crich and hope that my granddaughters will be coming along they went on tram in Edinburgh last year and love it.

Another excellent piece of nostalgia Paul, a great theme worth developing!

Thank you Alan for your valued comment. I had thought of a couple of similar painting , with a London tram and bus etc. Lots of lovely old vehicles could be used in lots of scenes .

Great nostalgia Paul again. It's really good but worrying that I remember Manchester trams pre the newer ones and the pain of getting your bike wheels stuck in the tracks. Ouch !

Thanks Richard for you comment. Must admit I do recall them but as we live away from Leeds I only went in them a couple of times, the impact must have been great because I was only fiv3 or six and still recall it vividly. Not fun getting your wheel stuck , particularly if it going the wrong way as well.

For me, great art is thought provoking as well as being pleasant to look at, this certainly ticks that box.

Thank you Jacqueline for your very kind comment it is very much appreciated.

24x32 cm watercolour of a Leeds tram in the mid 1950s. I have travel on the number 17 with my grandfather . The title is as he would have said take the number 17 to Harehills Lane. Scene set early evening on a wet rainy day . I have named the shop owner after my grandfather , the greatest man I have ever known.
