I like this one too., I like the subtle colours.

A complicated scene well drawn Paul. The touches of colour are good.

Definitely has the edge for me Paul.

I like this version best too

Just a small amount of colour has brought this to life Paul

Thank you all for your kind comments, I was thinking of the Victorians who sketched and added a light wash to their paintings when on the grand tour etc. Not sure why but possibility due to poor paper or lack of painting supplies but it seems to work and can of course form the base of a bigger piece.

Th touched of colour works well Paul.

The picture comes to life with colour, well done.

Yes Paul I agree. This one is. Little more dynamic.

Christine, Stephen and Carole thank you, yiur comments are appreciated.

The added colour has helped to pull it together - as we both know, Hilder would have demolished some of those buildings and had a more open composition, but all the same, one's eye does dance around this picture.

Thank you Russell and Robert . Quite right Robert he would consider it overcrowded , I like his style of work but don’t want to slavishly copy it, as the old song goes I did it my way .

A difficult scene but you have made it your own! Nice one Paul !!

Thank you William I appreciate your comments.

Love that addition of colour!!

Looks great with the colour Paul.

David and Fiona many thanks for your comments.

An interesting progression from the mono version. The addition of watercolor brings a sense of completeness that enhances the composition without overpowering the original lines. I agree, this version definitely has the edge.

Thank you Lea , I appreciate you kind comment.

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
