Works very well, Paul. I must follow up on the forum!!

Such a difficult thing to do...a, the white and b, the horse. Done well Paul. Don't think o woukd even have attempted it. G

Nice to have seen this progress in the forum, and nice to see more of your horses Paul. I'm with Sylvia; I wouldn't try either; well done.

Good to see this finished, it worked out really well despite your misgivings.

David, Sylvia, Karen’s and Andrew thank you for your very kind comments I really appreciate them. It was actually fun to do and a bit easier than I at first thought thankfully.

This has worked out so well Paul. Lovely painting and great horses.

Nicely painted Paul.

Spotted this on the forum, it's lovely work Paul - I love the sense of movement you have got in the horses.

A challenge well met Paul! A white subject takes some thinking about, especially in watercolour.

Very nicely painted, Paul - my husband remembers his Dad ploughing like this before he used a tractor!

Thank you Christine, Stephen, Sarah, Marjorie and Anne thank you for your very kind comments. You have it spot on Marjorie , I needed to work out the shadows and forget the rest before I started to try a bit more detail.

Is anything ever perfect? Well - maybe; sometimes. Just not often! This was a really interesting experiment for you though - a could it be done? piece: and yes - it could. You don't shirk difficult challenges - and that's how we learn.

Love this Paul and would great on a tea towel or a chopping board. 🥰

Thank you Robert and Faye for you kind comments. I would be stretching it a bit if I said I enjoyed every minute, however I did enjoy the majority of the time painting it.

It has a simple fresh quality that I like a lot.

Thank you Valerie, I needed to keep it simple or it would not have happened. I spent ages looking at horses and all the tac they used and need for ploughing , fascinating videos etc .

A lovely subject to paint, Paul, I like the composition.

This works well Paul, and the drawing is spot on - a complicated subject.

Thank you Jenny and Rachel for taking the time to look and comment I appreciate it.

Followed this on the Forum, good one Paul

Thank you Heather and it’s nice to know that it gets followed on the forum .I always worry that people might think it’s showing off .

Well done Dixie. Interesting to follow on the forum.

Thank you Gala for your lovely comment.

I would be chuffed Paul, give yourself a pat on the back…..job done! Love the subject and the landscape.

Thank you Fiona I appreciate your comment.

Nice work Paul. Haven't been on site for a while so came across this on catching up. The horses are super. I can feel their power and concentration.

Thank you Fiona , they are such powerful but gentle creatures.

Impressive! I like it.

Thank you Tessa, it was a pleasure to do and to be honest a bit of a labour of love . I just adore these big soft soppy animals, the size of some of them is really intimidating yet they are so docile.

Many thanks Michael, whilst it was challenging I found it quite relaxing and didn’t feel pressured, odd as I expected it to drive me mad. It did satisfy my desire to paint a white animal and brought back some wonderful memories.

Watercolour 23+36 cm a team of horses ploughing. I wanted to try painting white horse with out using white paint and successfully painted it. The story behind the painting is on the forum as is how I achieved it. It’s not perfect but in content with it for now .

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
