Old wood bank

That is really good, Dixie!!

Lovely twisted old trees Paul, you’ve really captured their character

I do love old trees like this Dixie and we have plenty around here showing their roots. This is a very good interpretation of their bulk and strength.

David, Neil, Tessa and Christine thank you for taking the time to look and comment, I appreciate your comments a lot.

Think you nailed this Paul. Stunning.

Great Dixie, a marvelous subject and useful info. That accounts for all the old 'sunken' country lanes around us.

Painted really well Dixie, I love old trees.

Great animation here Paul. Those trees are so alive.

This is an excellent painting Paul.

Thank you Chris, Kew , Lesley, Carole and Denise for your kind comments. There are so many of these old banks about Lew , most people don’t notice them or most likely don’t think about what they are looking at.

Very, very good!

Really good Paul. The roots and the trees are so well done and the "black" bits do emphasize the shapes.

Such a characterful painting - wonderful!

23x32 cm watercolour of a ancient wood bank , these banks were used to keep cattle etc out of the high woods. Many had fences growing along them and what we see today is the remains of the hedge as its grown Ito trees , some were pollarded . Some beautiful old trees with very odd shape , trees from a photo background imaginary.
