Inside the old barn by Paul (Dixie) Dean

Nice work, there's a lot going on in these old buildings. We recently went to Singleton Museum, which has saved many historic buildings such as this. They've all been painstakingly re-built at the open air museum. Fascinating stuff, I took a lot of photos, they'll come in handy as reference for fantasy pics.

So much interest here Paul. Is that a hand holding up something on the right? Spooky. Great work Paul.

Yes I see a hand as well. This is a bit special Paul.

I've been in many like this in my time and this is well captured Paul

Great old building and super painting Dixie. I love the cracks in the walls and you’ve really captured its character.

Thank you all for your kind comments. The hand on the side is some sort of sack covering of what I don’t know. I did not think of it as a hand until you pointed it out Carole. These old places are so good to look around.

Back to the vintage Paul. Love old barns etc. Your interpretation is super especially the cracked walls.

Thank you Richard, much to like about these old places that are often missed out by people these days.

Great old building, Paul, very attractive pen and wash.

Thank you Mia for you comment. I used a fine brush to achieve the cracks in the walls etc, and not a pen.

You have a knack for capturing old cracked walls Paul, another winner.

Nice one Paul, love thes old worn buildings, so much chatacter.

Thank you Fiona and Robert for you kind comments.

A4 watercolour, I was inspired to do this having spend the day inside a 300 year old barn, not this one. I want to draw or paint the old one one day when I can get some light in to see it’s structure. The workmanship in theses old buildings is amazing, this one is adapted from a photograph.

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
