And you met the challenge brilliantly!

What a challenge Diana. Take my hat off to you for tackling such a beautiful, complex assortment of tones, shapes and angles. You have achieved a great piece of art here.

Great shadows Diana, really interesting study and beautifully painted

I agree with Heather and Carole here, Diana: this is great!

Beautifully done, Diana - love the limited palette with that patch of pale green.

Thank you for your interest again Heather. It’s lovely to read your thoughts. Thank you Carole. I think the tones are probably more important than the shapes though I got a bit lost in places. Thank you Clive. It’s fascinating seeing the colours and changing values within shadows. Thank you Mia. I tried warming up areas after 5his photo was taken which I think is better. Hello Jenny and thanks again for your interest. The green was literally brilliant lime

I love this!

Thank you very much for your interest Debbie.

Another great picture

Wonderful painting Diana.

Thank you for taking time to leave your comments Paul, Russell and Linda. All your kind comments are really valuable.

Wonderful, Diana, wonderfully observed and painted. A joy to see.

So well observed Diana. The shadows have become the main point of interest.

Quite an achievement in mastering those complex reflections, you must have great tenacity as well as skill!

Well painted Diana, your tones look spot on and this lights up the whole painting, not an easy skill as I have found to my cost on many occasions.

Thank you Willie. It’s very generous of you to respond to my work. I’m guilty of being a bit less interactive with other gallery entries. I want to say something about them all though !! Thank you Tessa. I agree, the shadow is the key feature here. I’m enjoying these sunny days. Shadows everywhere! Thank you Stephen. I am very determined in achieving the vision of a piece as it is in my head. I come close sometimes. Thank you Barry. Yes, you’re right. Strengthening some darks a few times added depth. It takes several washes sometimes.

Done beautifully, a real exercise in shapes and shadows, you have nailed it.

Brilliant attention to detail as usual Diana. Fabulous angles!!

Thank you berry much Paul. Shadows are really difficult I think ! Thank you Audrey. A lot of angles , your right. A bit geometric for me but I enjoyed it. Thank you Richard. I’m fascinated by shadows and the colours within them.

Thank you very much Christine. I haven't been tempted to fiddle yet ! 😄 Thank you John I see that shadow regularly and it always fascinated me. Morning Jennifer and thank you. The shadow was definitely the star of the show.

This is very nice. I find the shadow a bit heavy-handed.

Thank you for your thoughts. I may lift a bit in places Some of it was virtually opaque and other areas much more transparent.

Absolutely brilliant, love all your paintings.

Excellent !!!

Half Imperial sized watercolour on Saunders Waterford heavy Cold Pressed paper. This was challenging with all those legs, both perspective and values wise!
