Both are absolutely fine, great in fact for me, Diana. The dark wash does throw the rest forward indeed. Lovely work.

Thank you Jim. I can see that the darker one throws the main characters forward but that the overall light is stronger in the pre wash version. I’m going to tackle s much larger rectangular version

Half sheet watercolour on Saunders Waterford. For over a week this painting has been sitting in my easel and much as I loved the colours and the light , there was something bothering me. In literally a few seconds, I’m happy now. Putting a dark wash over the sheep on the far left is all it took. I’ll post the two together so you can see what I mean. You may not agree if course??
