The Shady Pool, Princes Woods
A rare outdoor painting session on my local patch, after a summer of travelling and sketchbooking. I wanted to capture the feel of the strong backlighting, whilst keeping some tone and texture in the tree trunks, without making them black silhouettes. More green than I normally use but I think W & N Green Gold looks a natural English green, and it is used here in mixes with Winsor Yellow, Burnt Sienna and French Ultramarine.
