Thank you all for those kind comments. One of the reasons I only use watercolour is that I can "let the water do the work". Broad washes and big brushes let the wash go its own way, not always the way I'd intended, of course. This is a good example, where the buildings and dark field lines are the only times a wash brush wasn't used.

Thanks Fiona. The scene is imaginary, using the classic composition technique of placing the lightest light against the darkest dark at an intersection of thirds.

This is the second demonstration painting done quickly using a 3 colour limited palette, wet-in-wet. To paint them both in 45 minutes, I painted the first sky, set it aside, then painted the second sky, then each foreground in turn, and finally the buildings, trees etc.
