Shades of Rowland Hilder here and it is smashing

A really good study of the type of landscape I also love to paint. It's so easy to put too much detail in the foreground but I would have liked to see a really dark shadow of a tree or whatever at the base to anchor the composition. I do love your rendering of the group of trees on the right of the picture, a good painting.

Thank you all for your kind comments, Rowland Hilder will be turning in his grave! It's all down to a limited palette and Mother Nature's dramatic lighting, really.
