Yes I see the sense in that David, lovely pen and wash and the one I prefer so far.

Thank you all for those compliments. I'm pleased with the effect even though it only took 15 minutes. I would do a "proper" watercolour using the same two-colour palette of ultramarine & burnt sienna, paying more attention to the background trees and foreground shadows and grasses.

This is right up my street David, love it.

An example of my Colour Trials method: using a pen sketch to try out different colour ideas for an eventual watercolour painting. The original sketch is scanned into the computer then printed out a few times on A4 cartridge paper for a quick series of watercolour washes. The original thus remains as an untouched pen sketch.This winter version pleases me more than the summer one so I may paint it that way. Or I might do it again for autumn or wind & rain. It’s a good way of playing without stressing about the result.
