Another super, strong watercolour David, I admire your efforts at regularly painting on site, it gives vitality to your work. I have been to Lyme Park several times, it's a lovely spot.

Thank you both for your kind comments. Painting on site is what satisfies me most. Ken Howard says painting needs the head, hand and heart, and 2 out of 3 won't do. Unless the subject makes your heart sing, how can you paint it? I came into painting through walking and photography, so the landscape is all important. I know I'm privileged, still having the legs and lungs to get out there, but even when I can no longer walk I would only paint from my photos of places that have inspired me.

On a hot summer's Tuesday morning I set up my easel in the shade of a huge oak tree and painted this view. Insects buzzing, birds singing and a distant tractor humming, this is what outdoor painting is all about. A true "Adlestrop" morning!
