Thank you all for those appreciative comments. I'm glad the road appeared to you as a wet road, I thought it might look like a river. I hoped the white lines and diminishing telegraph poles would create the impression of the brow of a hill, which seems to have worked.

Sparrowpit is a Peak District village usually only glimpsed from a dangerous bend on the Peak Forest road. On yet another rained-off outdoor painting session, walking around the village produced this interesting composition where the wet road added to the scene. Painted back home from a photo, I may be daft but I’m not stupid enough to paint in the middle of the road!
