This is a lovely addition to the sketch. A very peaceful scene.

Nice going David. Boats and ships never fail with me..(-:

Good idea and the paper has not cockled.

Thames barges are my favourite so this is a beauty David.

lovely David

Thank you all for those comments. There is a real freedom in doing these, knowing it's not a "real" watercolour, and I can print another copy and do it again as many times as I like until I achieve a result that really pleases me. THEN I can worry about doing a "proper" watercolour using that colour treatment. The paper does cockle a bit, Stephen, as I do use wet in wet for skies quite often, but it is thin enough to be flattened as I press on the scanner lid to scan the image. The cartridge paper I use is pages from Daler Rowney Graduate A4 40 page softback sketchbooks. This is stated as 160gsm/109lbs but the latter figure seems high to me (more like 90lbs?). These books often turn up cheaply in art shops, The Works etc and there are sometimes similar books by unknown brands in Poundshops at 140gsm which seem to work just as well. Have a go!
