Well, how very interesting - the painting certainly has something, a freshness and a sense that you weren't that bothered to labour over it because it was a practice piece, and I suspect that's why it's worked well and why it sold. I like the shapes in it against the sky, and the colour - maybe more practice pieces are the answer!

You've put it perfectly, Robert - yes, it's that darned "weren't that bothered to labour over it" which appeals to me in other people's paintings and which I find so hard to achieve. I can plainly hear that voice in my head saying leave it, stop, step away, do another one, anything, but Stop Fiddling!, but usually I can't!
