Very nice Caroline, and that it is one of your first, makes it better again.Looking forward to seeing more !

What an achievement considering it is one of your first - it looks really accomplished - I look forward to more postings.

Caroline a painting to be proud of! Lovely graduated washes ( a favourite term of Ron's) in the background, bold foreground strokes. If this is a first then you're already on your way to posting some lovely paintings. By the way, you made a suggestion on one of my pictures regarding the shadow on a building roof, I took your advise and washed out a thin line of colour to seperate the shadows, and it's works, so thank you for that advise!

so nice to see your painting..Caroline it is wonderfull .. I will look for your next one

Larry, Michael, Fiona and Alan, thank you so much for your kind comments. I feel very encouraged as it took a while to pluck up the courage to post. And Fiona, I'm glad my thought on your shadow issue in 'Fenland lane' was helpful - it always seems so much easier to have them regarding other people's work doesn't it!

Are you using Ron's favourite hake brushes, too? This is a good, misty and evocative painting - with a limited palette, which always helps, I think. I do like the movement in that bare tree to the right.

Thank you very much, Robert, that means a lot to me. I started watercolour painting after finding a Ron Ranson DVD in a charity shop, and feel lucky to have started off by chance with Ron and his hake brushes and limited palette.

Sorry Robert, yes, I did use a hake brush, and of course a rigger for the tree and grasses.

Excellent bit of wok Caroline. It looks like you used a hake and have mastered it. Good palette. best Mick

Thank you Mick, and yes, well, more temporarily wrestled the hake into submission than mastered it, but I am fond of it.

One of my first 'actual' paintings (i.e. having done a lot of practising of some of the techniques), aiming to paint 'fast and loose' as Ron says. This is a copy of a Ron Ranson sketch, on Bockingford Not 11" x 7".
