Wow! Brave, exciting and very good. I did that for a week, in oils from life, in a company of known top notch pros. Daunting yep, successful - reasonable, should do more.

Thank you Derek. This was over about an hour and was one of my favourite sessions but I haven't done it since. The tutor's brilliant and gives us very different things each week. It's odd how we (I) have to be pushed to do things when it's quite possible to do them independently.

Just been viewing Shuring and Marine from your list of painters you follow. Really really good and the beach video of Roos was great.

Have you seen that Roos also has several free teaching videos on plein air painting available on her website/blog, Derek? They're excellent. Carol Marine also provides some very good free art tutorials on her Daily Paintworks website, called ArtBytes, and some at $10 or so which are well worth it.

Have you seen much of Emil Nolde? Fantastic stuff in my opinion. I noted your writing on painting

I haven't really, Gudrun, no, but thanks for the nudge, I'll do that over the weekend. I often make notes in the class while the tutor talks about various artists.

24" x 20" acrylic on paper. From life drawing class. Straight in with the brush. Usually I spend time measuring and drawing so this was a challenge and quite liberating.
