Lovely fog in the background..why they called them Black mountains, if they are green?

12 x 16 inch oil on canvas board. Yesterday I was on the top of Stonewall Hill on the Powys/Shropshire border, painting en plein air with The Friday Group from Ludlow Art Society. The light was quite flat and hazy - so rather than choosing the gorgeous view over the hills to the west (which I'll save for a sunnier day) I was attracted by the pink rose bay willowherb growing along the left hand side of the lane.
