I like the way you have added the blues and lavenders in the background and there seems to be more light, also on the snow. It's a great painting and ready for 2018's Christmas card or framing, or both.

Lovely painting, the light is dazzling, just as it is when the sun catches soft, newly fallen snow. You're well organised Brian, I can see. As Maureen says, planning ahead.

Thank you very much, Maureen, for the encouraging comments. I was a bit unsure about revisiting this one, but it just kept gnawing away. Yes, the tiny hints of cad have brightened the snow nicely. Thanks for mentioning it. Appreciated.

Thanks muchly, Marjorie, for the great comments about newly fallen snow. I was SO tempted to put a few tracks through the gap in the wall, eventually deciding to leave it fresh and drifting. As the birds drift from place to place so does the fresh snow. I'll have to get my head round the Christmas card idea. *smile* Brian

Beautiful light you have created Brian, I love the midge of cadmium red in foreground it adds that touch of warmth against the cooler background, all wonderful.

I don't remember it Brian, but what a super snow scene this is. I love the introduction of the two magpies.

Thank you very much, Carole, for the kind comments. I appreciate the nod to the colour revisions because I think they give this piece a lift and just HAD to post it to see if I was heading in the right direction. I was dithering a bit. You know how it is. *smile* Brian Thanks for the generous comments, Alan. Appreciated. The original did have the mag's on show but I thought they needed a bit of refinement. I'm partial to birds and I'm still learning how to paint them convincingly. Absolutely delighted they worked. Thanks for that. Brian

excellent work Brian

Thank you very much for the warm comment, David. Appreciated. Brian

Oh this is so beautiful! The lavender tones work really well....I love it!!!

You are so good at these snow scenes Brian, love the way you have captured the frozen water looks like a real mirror image and the magpies just add extra interest 😀

A beautiful piece Brian, it exudes silence and tranquility and is bathed in a lovely soft light. Oh 'eck I've come over all poetic!

Thank you very much, Sarah, for the very encouraging comments. I'm glad the colour changes are working. Appreciated. Brian

Thank you very much, Linda, for the kind compliment. Appreciated. I'm delighted the colour changes are working and that you like the mag's. They are a compelling bird. Nothing wrong with a touch of poetry, Russell. *smile* I'm really pleased the silence and tranquillity is coming through. Thanks for mentioning it. The soft light came about with the colour changes from grey/blue to lavender/blue/red. I appreciate the comments very much. Best to both Brian

Oh Brian, I do remember this! I love the refinements you've made and the colours are so special. Such a wonderful painting and I agree about the Christmas card, you should have some printed!! Stunning!

Love the blues in this painting Brian. Lovely.

It’s lovely to see the boys enjoying the snow Brian..... nothing further to add ref your revised colours.....except you’re the King of snow scenes! Lol

Thank you very much indeed, Margaret, Rachel and Fiona, for the kind comments. Always appreciated. Margaret! I'm so pleased you remembered this one and think the revisions are an improvement. Thanks for the great encouragement. I would love to see this one printed and will look into the possibilities. Pleased you liked the blues, Rachel. Thanks for letting me know. You had me laughing, Fiona. Thanks for the thumbs up. I've been revising a few snow scenes after looking closely at a number of snow paintings here and on the internet. I'm tip-toeing along as I go. I'm really pleased by the response to this revision, because it looked like an improvement to my eye, BUT you just never know for sure. Best to all Brian

Love this :)

Thanks for the kind comment, Alan. Appreciated. Brian

You might remember this one, folks, but I've substantially revised the colours, and made some adjustments to the birds. I thought grey dominated in the original so I've added some lavenders and blues to the background, and added a spot of cad red to some of the foreground with a hint of cad yellow in other places. Oil on canvas 40 x 30cms. PS The original can still be seen in my gallery. See you on the ice! (I'll get me hat)
