It’s a delightful spot Brian as long as the weather holds out. Love the delicacy of your foreground rushes and the ripples in the water. I feel a lot of passion within this painting. It always shows when the artist is drawn to the subject.

Looks like a beautiful spot Brian. A lovely tranquil setting well painted as usual 😁

Thank you very much, Carole and Linda, for the generous and kind comments. Much appreciated, as always. Yes, it is a lovely and surprising spot and one I've only recently discovered. I knew the angling ponds were there but thought they were private. I'm still toying with the idea of a winter version of one of the ponds/lodges, but I'll need to see how things go. Best to both Bri

Superb work, Brian. Like it all, but the reflections on the water are so good. The addition of the birds also adds greatly. (I always like to see some sign of life in landscapes...people...animals...they can look wrong without them. Just a personal opinion.

Wow! Thank you very much, Lew, for the amazing comments. Much appreciated. I tend to agree with you about the inclusion of creatures or people into paintings. I always think my seascapes look bare without a few gulls flying around, and these ponds are always, always full of gulls, mallards and coots. I was going to put some mallards in the foreground then opted for these two birds coming in to land. My son took a photo of a gathering just the other day, so I used it. (permission granted, of course *smile*) Bri

I don't recall seeing all the series Brian, but on this site work can disappear very rapidly. Anyway, a stunning piece and a fabulous spot to paint and fish.

Super work Brian, has a lovely serene feel to it, feel I'm there, aah.

Thank you very much, Alan, Olga and Stephen, for the great comments. Always appreciated. Yes, there's five altogether, Alan, one at 60 x 50 cms, two at 50 x 40 cms, one at 40 x 30 cms and one at 30 x 20 cms. I'll line them all up, take a photo of the whole series and post it later on today. Serenity's the word, Stephen. Thanks for that. Best to all Bri

This is so beautiful, Brian. Lovely colours and beautifully painted - also I agree with Lewis - the birds (especially the two in the foreground) give it that extra something.

Thank you so much, Margaret, for the highly encouraging comments. I'm delighted you liked the birds because there were so many choices. I originally had some mallards sketched into the foreground, given the amount of space I had to play with, but I eventually opted for these two birds coming in to land. Bro

Wonderful painting Bri and I also love the depth of colour in your reflections and the birds coming into land just give it that little something extra.

Thank you very much, Tessa, for the great comments and thoughts. Always appreciated. The landing birds were a last minute thing, as I toyed with several possibilities. Delighted you liked them. Bri

You saved the best until last Brian, no, the whole series has been a joy to view. Painted with feeling to create a sense of calm, wonder and peace. Beautiful.

Another wow from me Bri, this is fab! It looks so peaceful and calm, just beautiful. This series have all been so good it's a job to find one better than the other!

Thank you ever so much, Fiona, for the great comments AND for following how this series progressed. I must admit I'm fond of this one, mainly because the size was something of a challenge. It's amazing how much you learn by tackling similar subjects over and over again. Bri

Wow to you too, Margaret. Thank you very much for the great comments. Really appreciated. It is indeed a peaceful place to walk and watch. The quietness is only disturbed by the odd call of birds and shuffle of dogs and their owners. Bri

What a beautiful spot for a bit of fishing Brian. This is so well painted with the trees and reflections in the water and those birds are the icing on the cake.

Thank you very much for the very warming comments, Val. Very much appreciated. Delighted the birds are pulling their weight and very pleased to read that the reflections are working. I like cake. Bri

Almost looks like a photo the water and the reflections are excellent.

Oil on canvas, 60 x 50 cms, mostly wet in wet. This is the 5th and final painting (and the largest) of the angling ponds at Alkrington Nature Reserve. I stumbled across this scene when exploring the various angling ponds. I've enjoyed painting this series and the unexpected pleasure of the beautiful Reserve.
