This is excellent work it has balance and proportion and captures the moment perfectly. Im quite struck by the similarity to a moment in a scene in the movie 'an officer and a gentleman' in which mayo played by richard gere screams out in despair. Very moving scene and your portrait is equally moving and powerful

Thanks, Michael, for your astute observation. The model for this drawing was indeed Mayo out of an officer and a gentleman; I wondered if it would be apparent. I too thought it was a moving moment, especially the look of sincerity and despair. It still seems to hide a touch of defiance. Thanks again for a much appreciated reply. Brian

The despair and defiance are all there in your portrait Brian. Its a much more despairing, defiant and human depiction than the picture by munch bearing the same title. That is my opinion.

Your opinion is more than welcome, Michael. Thank you very much for getting back to me and thanks for the Munch comment. I could do with £74, 000,000. Actually, a tenner would do the trick *smile*. I was thinking of changing the title to give this some context, something like "Overflow" or "Outlet" or "primal". I'd have to change the model and produce an alternative but it's worth thinking about. Once again, thanks for looking at and thinking about this drawing. Brian

Charcoal and pastel drawing of a scream. This is a fast and loose rendition which attempts to develop mood and atmosphere. I can't say exactly how long it took to complete but it was done in one sitting where I relied on fast strokes and adjustments. Any comments regarding style and effect would help enormously. I have no objection at all to candid critique, in fact it would be welcome.
