Beautiful picture on its own Alix.

I think this is great and, yes, would make a good approach to many subjects.

Thank you so much! Cockles thoroughly warmed by your comments,Maureen, Stephen, Heather and Russell.

This is superb, looking forward to seeing more like it.

I really like the fact the background is one colour without the distraction of other things. It really makes your painting of this figure stand out. It’s lovely .

Beautifully drawn and painted, the pose and weight distribution so good. I'd love to see more in this style.

Beautiful painting Ali’s and yes I agree would make a lovely series. I can sympathise with the freezing studio. I use the small spare bedroom which is generally chilly!

Hi, Dixie, Christine, Lewis and Tessa. All such helpful comments. I shall plan more of this type.

Excellent work Alix. I like the simple background.

Such a delightful, graceful pose and I love the simple background with that wonderful shadow Alice.

I really like how the figure and shadow is the central theme of the painting. A single colour background works so well with this! The girl is superbly painted with the light and shade of the fabric and bowl beautifully painted.

This is a wonderful painting Alix. I love your choice of colours. I look forward to seeing some more, maybe in the summer when the weather is warmer.

Bob, Carole, Spencer, Malika: thank you so much. Extremely helpful and I shall look for more figures to do in this style.

Thank you so much, Coral.

Beautiful, I use a small portable heater in winter months in studio!

Brian and Romila, many thanks for your comments.

Acrylic, 25 x 20 cm. I painted this little girl very many years ago in watercolour with a full background after seeing her in her home village setting. I have been meaning to paint her again in a completely different way and rather enjoyed concentrating on just her and removing all background. I’m thinking of doing a series in this way - would love to know what you think. It’s so cold in the studio that my brain turns to warmer subjects!
