That's a cracker so far, Alan. In it so far, I see the influence of Turner, Edward Seago, and not least, Rowland Hilder. Nautical scenes, a great favourite of mine!

Yes, this could stand as it is. As ever, I'm always interested to see how the sea is painted. Here, some reflections and shadows, and nothing elsewhere...yet it works perfectly as sea.

So direct and unfussed. It works as a monochrome painting already. Love it!

A really good starting layout Alan. How are you finding the ACF canvases? I’ve just received my first two to try today.

Your paintings Alan are both loose and detailed at the same time - that takes skill.

Not sure where I’m going with this yet, just started it this morning with zero reference or planning (not advisable ), using my minimal knowledge of boats, but it’s an impression, not a blueprint for an engineer! Oil on ACF box canvas, 16 x 20in.
