Great sketching Alan.

So much achieved with a pen and chinagraph pencil.

This is great Alan, the shading on the hulls works brilliantly.

Just brilliant Alan.

Super good Alan

Very nice piece Alan.

Superb work Alan , it’s full if action and tell the story of a busy dockyard .

I like this one a lot !

I like the combination of chinagraph and pen - looks very effective! Great drawing too!

A lesson in how to create/reveal tone, excellent!

Excellent Alan.

Thanks guys always appreciate your feedback… Comments aren’t easy to come by just lately!

These old cargo ships with their funnels, have a bit more character than today’s flat oblong container ships!

Very evocative of a bygone time.

I love this. I can just imagine those cargo ships being unloaded in Liverpool back in my grandfather's day.

Love this Alan, but then I am a fan of boats and ships!

Excellent pen work Alan. The Chinagraph pencil is very effective.

Chinagraph is fun, but does wear down quickly.... I think I've worn all of mine out; but there's always carbon pencil and conté sticks to achieve a similar result, for anyone who has seen this and wondered where they can get chinagraph pencils. Of course, you'd always draw a winner, whatever you used, and this is an evocative drawing.
