Simple sketch or not, it's excellent, Alan. The big tree is beautifully drawn and I particularly like your 'squiggle' to indicate foliage on the right hand tree. I look forward to seeing the finished painting.

Thanks Lew, I was just about to delete it through embarrassment. It would have been better with some colour splashed on, but I didn't have my watercolour box with me in the car, which is very unusual.

Really like your sketch Alan and am always interested to see how others sketch as I'm not very good at it. Very sorry that you are still unwell, I do hope both the weather and your health improve soon.

I wish you would post more of your simple sketches Alan, it's lovely, can't wait to see what you do with it, hope you are over your bout of bronchitis, good job you have your painting to keep you occupied 😀

Very good sketch, hope you feel better soon.

I often enjoy looking at artists sketches more than finished work. It would be interesting to compare this with your finished painting when you get round to it. I find sketching a nice distraction if I am feeling unwell.

Perfect sketch.. ;) love it.

Lively, yet simple sketch, love the left hand tree - says it all - it's freezing here! I made it outside to paint on Monday, but still felt really cold. Roll on plein air!

Good job. As much as I like intricate and complicated images when something is simple but every element works it produces an aestetic image like this.

I love it’s simplicity, Alan. Fabulous sketch.

Excellent sketch. Still looks jolly cold though!!!

You managed to portray sunlight in this super drawing Alan.

A touch of class here Alan

Hope you are fully well soon Alan

Nice one Alan, captures the essence of Winter

I like a good sketch. Thanks for sharing Alan.

A splendid sketch Alan. I hope you will be feeling tip top very soon and will be able to get out to do more wonderful sketching.

My first outdoor sketch this year!. Due in part to some atrocious weather we've been having, also a bad bout of bronchitis which is still lingering. I sketched this yesterday on my way back from the doctors to get yet another dose of antibiotics. It's a simple landscape but the castle is always a great focal point. Also, there was an interesting assortment of farm buildings which I rather liked, I have a close-up sketch of those to work from. It may make an oil painting at some point. I don't generally post such simple sketches but I thought that I would make an exception today.
