You always find a great viewpoint Alan it's experience lovely contrast of light and I

Never fails to catch the eye Alan. Nice area you live in...

Top marks for painting out doors Alan and such a good result.

Great washes Alan, love the way you have balanced it with the dark branches.

The church has a good solid feel to it and the colour glows, another winner Alan.

Brilliant Alan!!

Those touches of bright light make the warm shadows glow, so pleasing to look at. Love the perspective you have used.

Thanks all for your comments, appreciated as always. Not the easiest angle and I was nestled amongst the pine trees in the shade, the tree on the right was actually there albeit a few more autumn leaves on it, balanced the composition up as Carole has pointed out.

An excellent sketch Alan, lovely palette and that light sky contrasts nicely with the dark church .

Is this Sandon in Chelmsford? I used to live there, went to this church! Long time ago now. D

Another winner Alan!

Great view Alan and lovely colours as always. The gravestones are dancing.

Continuing my series of en-plein-air sketches situated almost on my doorstep, this is my usual rigger and ink with a splash of watercolour. Fabriano Artistico 300lb HP 10 x 12in. Mostly in the shaded area of the grounds so not much chance of any great contrast but there was a nice chink of bright sunlight catching the top of the large graves which helped a little.
