Alan you are a real master superb in its beauty

This is lovely Alan :)

This has such a great color palette, looks like the sun was shining for you this morning. Love all the quick and different brush strokes through out your plein air sketch....thanks for the history of the place Alan. I look forward to more of your masterful sketches, and your studio work from this....

Your quick sketches never cease to amaze me with their colour and detail Alan. This has so much life, and I shall look forward to seeing it as a finished painting too.

Nice and loose, with lots of life Alan, look forward to seeing the studio version. Very often the initial vision is hard to beat.

That's an amazing amount of detail that you've captured en plein air, Alan, what a feat! Love the sense of movement throughout the painting and the receding layers. Superb work!

Great sketch Alan, and admiration for getting out there to do it. I'd guess, in your language of skies, that it was quite a pleasant day to be en plein air ?

A good painting as always Alan.

A sketch? I would be thirilled to complete something as good as this as the finished job Alan!lol I think someone has already mentioned the variety of marks and brush strokes in the painting, which it it so much life. Can't wait to see the worked up version.

I apologize Alan, i have missed this fantastic painting with so great colours and lights.

Thanks to you all for your kind comments, I am trying to get out more this year to paint, I hope I manage it.

Gorgeous colors Alan!<br />

This mornings plein-air oil sketch, canvas board 16 x 20in. This historic hall and castle once housed Mary Queen of Scots, prior to her execution. Situated in private grounds, this quick sketch was made leaning on the castle ruins as I did not have my easel. It will be reference for a larger studio work later, and I also managed to do a more detailed pen drawing of the hall itself.
