The Lane through to Cotes Heath

sunset snow

It’s a bit unseasonal but I’m currently working on a feature for TA with the title ‘ How to paint a winter sunset in oils’, that’s for the December issue.

Beautiful Alan.

Wow, Alan, Stunning.

Fabulous, wonderful use of colour.

It's a beauty Alan and, as you say, a rare moment captured.

Exceptional work Alan.

That's just gorgeous Alan!

Beautifully painted Alan one of my favourite subjects.

Love the glow of the sunset covering the entire landscape. I also admire how you achieve a softness, which permeates the painting, to achieve the quietude of snow.

Love that powerful sky Alan.

Superb use of tone and colour Alan.

Wonderful colours.

Beautiful sunset Nice use of color

Lovely colours.

This kind of impact is always in season Al! A gorgeous mix of harmony and texture……it’s a beauty darling.

Love the pastel shades of the foreground colours set against that hot sky.

What a little beauty, fabulous colours.

You have the power Alan - beautiful!

Hang on Studio Wall

Oil on board 30 x 40cm, a 4-stage winter sunset which will appear in the coming months as a WIP in the e-newsletter. Snow and sunsets don’t necessarily have to go hand-in-hand, but when they do, what an impact they make! They offer a great opportunity to exploit reflections, the crisp glistening snow reflecting the reds and oranges of the winter sun… powerful and exciting stuff! For me anyway!
