Gorgeous colours Alan!

Lovely, Alan, I especially like the colours and the way you’ve painted the foreground buildings.

Fabulous , Alan! I love the vibrant colours!

Really stands out, full of colour and light.

Such an unusual aspect of the cathedral. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a view of the cathedral without the river below. A refreshing, original view with a lovely warm, cosy feel to it. Unlike many of the bleak, formidable, views around. It’s not all soot and muck up north. Love the foreground Alan.

An excellent and very individual take on this famous building.

This is such a beautiful painting. I love the colours also.

The glow of the light against the buildings is brilliant, great colours .

I like this more colourful approach, Alan.

Beautiful autumnal colours Alan

I love the blues/orange axis Alan, and the way you have loosely described the foreground buildings works well - the cathedral certainly has impact. By the way, your article in the Artist magazine was really interesting and informative!

Alan you have managed to use loose and confident brush marks and achieve detail. The colours are warm and inviting creating great depth - really enjoyed looking at this work and keep spotting little touches of excellence.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful Alan! The buildings and Cathedral are brilliant but I do love that middle ground.

They said it all, Alan: this is brilliant! Wonderful scenery and stunning colours. Gorgeous!

Superb palette Alan and great composition and perspective.

Beautiful

Lovely colourful work.

Many thanks to all of you who took the time to comment, it’s really appreciated.

I've only seen pictures of this cathedral from the river - from which it looks magnificent, but it's always good to see another view of a familiar landmark: we had a painting of Eilean Donan Castle from another vantage point a few days ago, and it causes you to look at them with fresh eyes. Love your hot colour scheme - the oranges complemented by the cool blues.

Sorry Alan I missed this gem, great colour palette with the warm and cool colours working well together and just the right amount of detail in the foreground.

Agree fully with other comments, lovely set of colours and nicely composed picture.

Although the cathedral is in the background, it draws the focus of the viewer. Lovely colourful painting Alan and an unusual composition.

Love everything about it.

Oil on primed MDF 20 x 20in. Another architectural scene with my own take on this superb structure and prominent city landmark. I’ve kept the foreground buildings all very low key, so as not to compete in any way with the beautiful architecture of this magnificent cathedral. Again, my loose impression with emphasis on strong tonal contrast and hopefully a degree of impact.
