I think I come down on the side of fewer a day. Even I can't generate even 4 images a day. (And I paint every day)
It’s really good that so many artists who paint in different ways and styles etc come together and agree like this .  I like a lot of you paint every day and sometimes complete a painting in that time , that’s when other things in life let me get on with it  I would not have the time, space or energy to produce four in twenty four hours even if I painted every hour.  I’m sure Dawn and the team will the see discussion and the suggestion that it be reduced and if possible will make the changes .
Paul, it has been suggested several times in the past but nothing has come of it - can’t remember the reason why. The forum posts speed by so quickly, Dawn may not see this - perhaps you’d like to raise it with her?

I've always believed that Dawn sees everything - all-knowing, in my opinion!  But not one, ever, to weigh in and lay down the law.  This is why the Forum and Gallery work: I belong to several groups on Facebook, and some of them have highly restrictive rules - the rate of churn is much less on nearly all of them, but now and then I do wonder at the exclusivity of them - one of the great strengths of this site is its inclusivity.  That of course carries disadvantages as well as advantages.  I tried to overcome this - i.e. my stuff disappearing almost as soon as I'd posted it - and started a blog years ago now; my hope was that my work would last longer there (well, it was bound to, wasn't it, because I didn't let anyone else post their work!).  Trouble is, it's not attracted much traffic, and thanks to the much rehearsed problems with my cameras (and my ability with them - think zilch) I haven't put much on it lately.   I must (have got the camera Alan B recommended now: as soon as I work out the instructions I'll have a go with it.... it's not that it's so very complicated, but I am so very easy to alarm, put off, worry, and dissuade from action): I must, that is, put more things on there.  (I'd love to see more of you signing up - Google me!) Wandering off on one, as usual....  I can see a case for limiting the postings to two a day; it might not be the total solution, though, because the member numbers here have increased dramatically over time; we'd be in real trouble if every one of us posted a picture a day. Anyway, coming to a point (you knew I would eventually) - I do think it would be a good idea for members here to blog, or of course have their own website: then we could link to that in our posts: it's not hard to do, if I can do it (run a blog, that is; website is something else again).  It won't solve problems on POL, but it might help us to get our work into other galleries aside from this one.

I count myself on a wild productive binge if I produce four images a month .... not age and decrepitude (this time anyway) but failure of imagination.  I wonder if anyone else is like me (sympathies if you are) - feeling guilty if I don't paint, or at least draw, every day - getting depressed about lack of output; getting more guilty in consequence, in an ever rolling stream!
It has certainly been brought to the attention of Dawn on many occasions, by myself and I’m sure others on the site. POL seem happy with how things stand, at least that’s how I interpreted it. Postings used to be unlimited, well before I joined I may add, and if you go back through the earlier posts you will see artists regularly posting 20 or more a day… I believe one guy I looked at posted something like 70… Ridiculous! Sounds impossible, but it’s true -I’m sure that Robert and Sylvia will tell you all about it. So, after that, I suppose 4-a-day seemed a reasonable figure to settle on! Any alterations would have to be made by the web designers.., these are an outside source which would cost money, it may not be as easy as flicking a switch…
I’m definitely in the category of technical idiocy in fact I probably qualify for a degree in technical ineptitude. If there are two ways of doing something I will find a third that certainly won’t work . The thought of running a block terrifies me ,I wouldn’t know where and what to say , but I now have a website with the help of my eldest granddaughter who is a technical wizard . She gave me the name of a free site to set up and initially made a few changes once I had set up the site now all I do is load up my paintings , the next stage is to put sone text with each painting still work in progress but feel free to have a look . If I can do it you can for sure . dixies-artwork.webador.co.uk.
I think a two a day limit is a good idea, as is, as Robert suggests above having links to blogs and/or websites. I think people can be over enthusiastic as its a very positive site to use. When I first joined I had a sizeable 'back catalogue' and, once I got going, wanted to get it all on here (well not quite all!). But the only time I ever posted four images was the first time I used the site. I soon cottoned on though, that too much of one person's art can be a bit, well, too much! So I slowed it down a bit and now post my latest stuff, almost always one at a time (except, ironically, this morning when I posted two paintings, but that was due to a lack of confidence in posting my slightly dodgy abstract without a buffer....) I only get chance to paint two or three times a week but I am pretty quick output wise, even when I use oils. I wish I could take my time a bit more but not sure that will happen!
[ol] [li] Hard to get beyond this : Art. the various branches of creative activity, such as painting, music, literature, and dance. And, on crossing the Rubicon: ...since the consensus of opinion on daily postings seems to lie between two and four( yes, I have been a past offender), why not settle on three?   [/li] [/ol]

I suppose really the problem lies with just one individual so we may as well leave things as they are. It does work pretty well.

Grin and bear it.
Not to upset any apple carts, but do I have a Nemesis? Just had a stop on my images telling me I've exceeded the daily limit after posting two works. I rarely post more than two per day now and certainly twenty four hours apart, nor have I any intention of doing so. A few others manage to post four images. This isn't the first time this has happened. Why? Are we working Siberian time or something.
