Peter you are correct in that a lot of people seem to be posting four paintings a day, I suspect they are uploading stuff they have done a while ago. I think we go through fazes where one person posts a lot at a time and others follow the example. I must admit that when I first started using the gallery I tended to upload three  a day not really thinking that I would effect other . I’m sure we’ll I like to think that people would reduce the amount they post if the thought about how it pushes other work down the pages. I asked Michael to reduce his number because his work was causing more annoyance due to the amount,  but also because of the it was causing a lot of controversy. To be far he did agree and has since reduced the amount he posts.
We must have been writing about the same time Sylvia. I know you were growling out of frustration and not at me. I share your views and frustration as do many others on the forum and gallery, the unfortunate reality is that people will become more frustrated in time . I know a couple of people who have stopped using the forum and don’t post there artwork as often as they feel their work isn’t getting a fair chance.  The thing that’s driving me mad at the moment is all the  spam , just off back to clear some more.
These multiple postings are a subject that regularly comes up.  I won't criticize anyone for doing it.  When I joined, as now, the guidelines said four a day could be posted.  That's what I did.  After a while I cottoned on that it wasn't a great idea, because I soon found I got more feedback with one a day.  Even that's too many, these days I post a maximum of one every two days, often struggling to do that, and I'm drawing and doodling all the time.  When you join POL you are keen to show your work, I know I was, so let's not do anything to dash the keen-ness of newcomers.
Pretty much same as Lew. I used to post four a day, which is pretty pointless really because you're chasing you own work off the Home page. Usually do two a day, sometimes just one now. My trouble is speed. I work very fact and can knock work out quickly. Two a day is fair and sufficient, so I'll stick to that.
I agree with both of you Lew and Jim I think most of us has been there when we first started out, the novelty of having our work seen is a bit heady at first . As you rightly say we become wiser and slow down , when there are multi posts I find it hard to comment on each one , I decided a few days ago to only comment on the one I really like the most and the only if I felt that I wanted to.  Taking Lew’s point up it would be quite unfair to ask people who are new to the gallery to stop posting so much , we need to welcome more artists and I certainly don’t want to scare the off ,I can easily put my foot in it without trying anyway.
When people are new to POL, as well as being keen for their work to be seen, I expect they often multiple post each day to get their backlog of work on to their gallery as quickly as possible.  Trouble is, as new and exciting as a new member’s work may be, if you see a lot of the same style day after day, it’s easy to quickly lose interest in it.  I’ve seen it happen quite a few times in the past.

The rule of four is relatively recent.  I remember postings of forty plus.  So four is good.
I remember those occasions too Sylvia. We couldn't believe it! Can't remember who it was though. I'm sure it was once more than 70. Those were the days....we were young and foolish 😆
Yes there was one more than 70  I remember now...four,four....Tis nowt. Thinking about it was it Blood Axe ?

No, don’t think it was him but he was around at the time.
I didn't realise POL went back to Viking times....presumably lots of pictures of long ships and dragon's heads?
