Good to see more figure work Denise, and I like your French scene Linda. I think it would go well as pen and wash. As it’s the start of the Six Nations Rugby this weekend I did this pen sketch.
That sketch is brilliant Tessa. Lot's of movement going on there.Mine are like stiff boards at the moment but with practice, maybe I can get a more natural looking figure.

It’s all practice, practice, practice Denise, and it will come. When you’re out and about it’s good to observe how people walk, sit and stand, or even on the tv. I was told to look ,look look, and then look some more! And daily sketching really does help.
Good sketches Tessa.  You are right, practice, practice, practice.  Best from life and photos,  or you could get an artist’s wooden model.
Lovely action rugby sketch, Tessa.   Denise, as Tessa and Linda said, "practice, practice, practice"!!  I would also suggest keeping early paintings for a few years so you can look back at them and see your improvement.
All great advice to follow, thanks everyone. I've just finished a watercolour that took a lot longer than I expected and I have just glanced at my sketch book and don't have the energy to reach for it tonight although I really want to. I might get a second wind after a rest.
Wasn’t sure what to do this evening so looked through some photos from last summer, and did this roadside sketch of a group of trees in pen and brush pens.
Some very nice figures drawn over the last day or so , l like your pen and wash Tessa. I by coincidence have done a rare pen and wash, looking up in the Chedder gorge. I original did the watercolours and with no details then added the pen to show the crags and strata .
Great to see so many figures and like your watercolour sketches Tessa and Paul. Here’s a quick sketch of a Japanese garden, inspired by a gardening programme I have just watched!
F This is decidedly not for the gallery . I’ve posted it to make you laugh.  This is Sam  our rescue chap from a year ago.  He came in what looks like this babygro  ,the rescue place had snipped his bits before he was adopted and because he is so very small ( a JackChi , a posh mongrel a cross between a JR and Chihuahua ) .  Instead of a lampshade around his neck he had this.  He had a tour of the garden then leapt into our very large pond ,swam the length of it and scrambled out . He looked like a very small Edwardian bather . I immediately had to undress him and wash it.
A friend who saw it thinks he looks as though he plays for Everton.  I should have coloured it red.
Grrrrrrrr stupid double post
