Like the field sketch Tessa, I do think that will make a good painting.
Some super sketches and paintings everyone! Sorry not been active over last two days,  diP in energy levels = laziness! Hoping to come up with something tomorrow, in fact I should go a drive and see what takes my eye!
Hope you come up with some inspiration Gillian! I found some photos I took near where my daughter lives of  barges in August last year (different world!) And always meant to draw or paint them. I don’t like drawing from photos but it is at least mine! Respect to Dixie, not easy!
That’s a great sketch Tessa you have done a really good job of the barges. It would make a nice painting.
Think I will leave my barge painting alone for now, I got frustrated with it and fiddling around with the background so lost the plot, will give it some time then look at what to do. Today is an old car, my youngest granddaughter wanted to know if my dad had a car, I tried to explain that few people did have car when I was her age. I them did a sketch of Ford Popular, she thought it did not look old enough so here is the result of what she thinks old cars should look like.

My dad had a Hillman Minx until 1968 that looked almost identical to the drawing. Flip up indicators and starting handle. Even then  it looked so old that I was embarrassed to be seem in it!  Strange, I forget the reg number of my present car but I can still remember the Hillman's being HPH198 from 1968!
In the late Seventies I had a real Fiat five hundred as a runaround, my eldest two said it was the most embarrassing thing to ride in . My eldest daughter said a couple of years ago that she wished we still had it as it would be so cool.
All this talk of old cars takes me back to my Grandfather’s car and the picnics we used to have when we all crammed onto the back seat on Mum and Dads knees! Great sketch Paul and great attempt at a busy canal scene Tessa. Had no inspiration today but talk of vintage vehicles I decided I would sketch a historic Orkney Yole

Lots of transport this week. Been thinking that I’ve been getting slack again with my sketching, so got one done today before I indulged in a small ‘sundowner’. It’s a sketch of the place we stayed in for a week in Albany, WA, while house hunting and it was bitterly cold the whole time. These little “fibro” homes are just board with little or no insulation. Roll on summer, here.
Sorry been a bit lazy the last couple of days.  Lovely barges Tessa this should make a lovely painting.  Talking of old, I am fascinated by different textures and love flaking paint on old wood.  This is from my daughters garden shed thats in a sorry state.
I can imagine the flimsy looking cottage would be chilly in winter Ron! Interesting to see it! Hilary I love your shed window, must admit I like to draw old wooden doors etc. Just been playing around with a sketch of the underwater landscape inspired by my daughter’s love of snorkelling. Not a great success maybe but it was an interesting exercise!
Love the boat sketch Gillian, where you are staying sounds a bit like the old prefabs Ron. Your not been lazy Hillary sometimes we just need a bit of time. I’ve not felt like doing much for the past week or so, looked at a couple of photos last night and decided I really wanted to do a painting of this train , but with a backpack I wanted. It’s set outside the old engine sheds and will have quite a bit of steam, well that’s the plan, here is the first two stages.
