Thanks everyone, got some of that sunshine in between the showers. Calligraphy is quite a skill and that looks very good, CJ. Agapanthus is very apt for hot summer days, Katy. Nice old door Gillian. Hope it cools down a little.
Just a very quick watercolour sketch from me today. As the paint keeps dry to quick I used wet paper and very watery colours, to try and achieve a misty morning look on the canal.
I like this a lot Paul, very atmospheric
I agree, atmospheric. Like it a lot. Mine is a quick watercolour, maybe a prelim to an oil perhaps.
Very successful catching the early morning mist Paul and Katy your flowers are lovely.  Nothing from me yet however still a few hours to go before midnight and a new day!
Thanks, Ron. Its a subject I took up as an evening class quite a few years ago, but lately I've delved more into its history, an engrossing subject. Dixie, I do like the atmosphere you have created with your painting, very much in-keeping with the smouldering mist we are experiencing at the moment. A lovely pre, painting to you thoughts with producing an oil painting, Katy. I've been thinking about doing an oil painting of a stormy skyscape, with a little bit of land. So look forward to seeing your work. Any help from the oil painters on 'how to begin' to produce a stormy sky will be welcome.
Morning all, mines a prep drawing for an acrylic painting I saw online.  I have always been fascinated by glass in paintings and really would like a go.  I would love a go at oil painting but frankly don’t know where to start!
Like the glass Hilary, should make an interesting acrylic. I’ve just started with oils, water soluble ones, and it does take a bit of adjustment, mainly because I like to work quickly but you have to let the layers dry or it becomes a sticky mess🤔
Spent most of yesterday and today on the road, but had a quick go at the couple of friends we had dinner with last night (from a photo).
Starting of the August challenge. Thought as I am sketching it at the moment I would post it as a sketch a day!
Hillary, Ron, and Gillian, your work is looking good.
