Welcome to this weeks thread , something very different this week as it’s your chance to inspire and show us your own painting , especially the one you are particularly proud of. It doesn’t have to be your best work, just something that you particularly like and think to yourself I do like that . Now there is something we don’t say out aloud about our own artwork, goodness what will the neighbours think .  I’ve chosen two to start the ball rolling, the first is one of the first time. I tried painting the inside of a barn, I was encouraged by my granddaughters who wanted the dog and animals in the scene. My first attempt at painting a collie dog . My second is a snow scene, I had done snow scene before but this one came together, the tree was just how I wanted it to look. It comes out at Christmas and is put in a frame to add to the decorations , as it’s one of my wife’s favourite pieces.
Love your snow scene, Paul.  I think we all have a favourite painting that we wouldn’t part with.  This is mine, it wasn’t planned, but just evolved from another painting which I did for one of Dawn’s monthly challenges a few years ago, and it was selected for Patchings.  I enjoy adding collage to an old painting to see where it takes me. This was the original (the challenge was to illustrate a favourite song). Before that, this was my favourite, although it’s based on a painting by J.D. Fergusson….

Your snow scene is great Paul.  One of your very best.  I love Jenny's first post, it's very very interesting to see the original version. This will be interesting.  I've recently starting saving other people's art to my wall (the POL membership wall, I don't save my own stuff there.)  So far I have 90 odd saved pics...it will be interesting to see if the artist's choice concur with my choices of their work.
An almost impossible challenge laid out here, I don’t really have any favourites and am rarely happy with anything if I’m honest, but here goes… I’ve chosen a simple pen and watercolour, probably my strongest suit, this one exudes atmosphere as well as simplicity. And more importantly, I’ve resisted the urge to fiddle around with it by adding unnecessary detail!
Paul, I can see why….the first one an added emotional aspect - I bet your grandchildren liked that very much. The second has that feel of recent fallen snow….and silence. Jenny, your collage is brilliant and your second one so apparently simple but so colourful and effective. I like painting a range of different things but I have a favourite portrait ( of my eldest granddaughter ) and a particular Still Life and a landscape. The first one has an emotional pull but I’m pleased with how it turned out, it was a struggle.
Interesting that Alan said his strong suit is watercolour.  I'd have thought it was oils, but how could I know, he paints so well whatever he uses.  Here I'm defying even my own logic, because my favourite work by Alan (so far) is one of his watercolours.  Another superb example here. Marjorie...three wonderful works.  As my prime interest is people, I think the first, of your grand-daughter is utterly sublime.  I often see work posted by POL artists and wish I could have painted them.  This is one of them.
Thank you all for joining in this thread I was worried that it might fall flat, sone beautiful work posted by very talented people. When I said favourite , I should have said paintings that you keep and are proud of , I have a couple to post through the week that aren’t in any way my best work but they are one I’m really pleased with ax they were a bit of a struggle at the time . Time to get out some of the unseen stuff that we keep away but really like it ourselves.
Alan’s is a perfect example of pen and watercolour, beautiful. There aren’t many drawings/paintings which we’re satisfied with, it’s good that we’ve all got a few! As for the unseen stuff Paul…I keep quite a bit to look back on, they are usually connected to memories.
In my time I've copied about 10 paintings by famous artists.  Not that many for my age.  All have hung on my walls at home over time, but only two remain, they've become keepers I guess.  One was a Manet that I've shown recently, the other was by Tamara De Lempicka the famous art deco painter.  I don't like all her work, but about half-a-dozen really appeal.  I consider this one her masterpiece...it's called 'Sleeping girl' (it's her daughter).  She painted in oils, I've copied it in watercolour. Not a great photo, a few reflections... It's been hard chosing stuff for this thread.  Like others, I'm normally dissatisfied with what I do, in some cases, after time has passed, I come to like some work more.  Often what I like is pen and ink.  This was intended to be Fagin.  It isn't Fagin.  But unusually, I still liked the drawing when I finished it. In my time I've done hundreds of cartoons.  As much as I like drawing them, very very few became favourites  (not quite the right word, but you know what I mean).  I did like this simple drawing straight away...it'll be a keeper.
You're all so good at what you do, beautiful and wonderful contributions.  I'll have a look at what I have, they may not be technically good, but something I like.
Norrette it’s the I like ones that I’m suggesting we post not tbd this is technically perfect. The ones that you have a feeling for , unfortunately I don’t think a named category so I use the word favourite, like most of you I don’t have a single favourite but some I just like more than others.
I don’t often participate here , but I would just like to say to Lewis, I think your Fagin drawing is absolutely brilliant.
