I've enjoyed looking through his work and I am usually drawn to brightly coloured artwork but I really liked his painting, Dorset Farmhouse, I liked the more muted colours of this, I think, Paul has posted a picture of it already. I came across this which I liked very much. Still Life with Gold Chair.

Might I be bold and make a logistical suggestion? 🤔
How about a separate topic/thread JUST for artist suggestions, rather than adding names to the current weekly topic? Just names, with perhaps a brief reason. I'm sure Paul is keeping a separate list, but my suggestion would allow the rest of us to keep track of who has been nominated.
When the artist is chosen, the nominator can then (as now) give a more detailed description of the artist; including a brief history and the reason for putting them forward for discussion.
Perhaps Admin could then lock the topic to the top of the section so that it doesn't slip down the page.
Edit for smelling!

I will add her to the list Denise, it’s will be several weeks before she comes up for discussion.
Jenny and Alan thank you for you comments and continued support . I will start adding the names of the artists who are coming up as you suggested Jenny , this will enable me to make a change if necessary and time to sort out the paintings etc.
please continue to suggest names and any suggestions for improvement to the thread .
Colin a good idea but unfortunately there is no way of locking the threads to the top of the site , hence the reason we number the weeks to enable tracking back if needed . If the thread was not used regularly enough it would disappear and it would take a bit of finding .
I look each day and add any suggested artist to a the list I have and check if they have been previously suggested,
I also mark off any that we have discussed. The inability to lock a thread is one of the things that I discussed with Dawn as I thought it would allow the current one to be at the top all the time and people would notice it more .
I will ask if there is a way to promote this thread and encourage others to use it.

Paul, there is one thing which might help if people want to look back on previous weeks. At the moment all of these threads appear under ‘Artistic Inspiration’ which is near the bottom of the main topic header General Discussion which is itself some way down the list of header topics. If Dawn could get Artistic Inspiration moved to the top of ‘Join in’ which is the first main header in the forum it would be much easier to find. Hope this makes sense?
Did you add Moira Huntly to your list?

Thanks Jenny I will ask Dawn if it possible to move the main header up . Yes I did add Moira Huntley to the list as you know it will be a couple of weeks before she features.
As a heads up next week’s artists are Louise Balaam who I believe Alan suggested and Fredrick William Elwell who I have suggested. I will put the new thread up on Sunday evening as usual.

We don’t want to complicate things too much, it’s working reasonably well so far… I’ve not noticed any issues with the thread disappearing off the page!
Louise Balaam it is then, she’s a really exciting artist which I hope you’ll enjoy looking at her work. Some of you, Jenny I suspect, will already be familiar with her paintings.

Apologies everyone, I should have started off the discussion on Michael Morgan but I have been away. Michael Morgan was a student of John Blockley and also great friends often referring to John Blockley as Blockers! What I find really interesting is the way the ideas of John Blockley were taken on and developed in a different way by Michael. I also think that the work of both Michael and John have informed the work of Ann Blockley .

Thanks Alan for catching up , hope you enjoyed your break. I will add Ann Blockley to the list I do know her work and I agree that she is heavily influenced by her farther. Would you like to do the intro and lead the discussion on her work , it won’t be for quite a few weeks.Thank you Paul. I don’t know much about Ann Blockley but I’m happy to have ago.
