Great Alan I will put your name down for the intro. Hopefully as I’m making a change that was suggested by Jenny , folk will have a bit more notice of who is coming up. This will also enable people to ask for it to be changed if needs be to fit around other commitments.
Louise Balaam NEAC.  A painter of expressive gestural landscapes, bold statements and  dynamic brush marks. Often representing the wilder areas of the British Isles, moorlands, marshes and the rocky coastlines of Cornwall - I find her work really fresh and exciting. She often work’s from her plein air exploratory sketches and produces fairly large oil canvases. From these sketches she works up her finished oil paintings in her studio. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy and teaches classes and workshops, I almost went on one a few years ago until covid struck. She is well qualified to do so having a Masters Degree in Fine Art.
Bold spontaneous - now her work really does excite me
Very nice paintings Alan I will  look at her work later .  From the few I have seen he work has very bold brush strokes or is there pallets knives used as well , as a non oil painter it’s difficult to know at times .  I  was a bit confused as we seem to have tagged her work onto last week , but never mind I will follow on on Wednesday with my choice it will save setting up a  new thread. I will go and have a good look at her artwork.
Yes I was unsure where to start it off, and I’m not around first thing tomorrow so I needed to post it tonight! Do you normally set out a new heading each week Paul? I could cut and paste the text into a new heading if you want… No knives, just big brushes!… zero fiddling!
Not to worry Alan . The reason for doing a fresh thread each week is that as Dawn pointed out its the best way to proceed and enables anyone wanting to trace back will find it much easier. Her concern was that the thread would become so big if and you wanted to look at what was said about a particular artist you might need to trawl through lots of pages . By having the weeks numbered and the artist names it is easier to find them . I will add Elwell on Wednesday and continue as we are now.

Well I have fount two of her painting that I like. I have to say that I’m not attracted to her work but can see the skill in them  nonetheless. I think it because they are too loose for my taste, well we can’t like everything that we see  painted .

That top one doesn’t look like one of hers Paul! I’m certain it isn’t…
I was not sure as it looked so different however it was attributed to her. I do t know her work well enough to know, that’s another big benefit of the thread looking and learning not just about the artists but the different styles etc. I honestly would not have looked at her work if it had not been posted , though it’s not my cup of tea it’s good to at  least look at her work and made a decision about it based on that, not just dismiss it .
Exciting work, I love her brush strokes, so bold and deliberate. Very strong, eye catching landscapes. Two of my favourite. Sharp Sunlight, Constable's Trees. High White Day, Sennen Cove.
I’ve not seen that first one Denise, but she was influenced by Constable, you can see that again in my second photo, the sky is definitely Constable. Your second one is a favourite of mine also.
Pleased to have found common ground Michael… next up, Turner!
