Very evocative, Wib. London, Ontario? I worked at Puslinch Township, RR6 for six years from 1956 before returning to GB. Small world! One amazing memory is the snow and ice sculptures made each winter by the students at the then Guelph Veterinary College, but I think it is a Uni. now?

A generation to be treasured indeed Wib, I love the company of the 'older folk', their rich tapestry of life experiences all there to be shared, if you only take the time to ask. I think you have painted that rich tapestry with the hues of gold, green and blue.....the light is super. I have no children and if I out live my spouse, this could be me!! I already sit in the garden with my cup of coffee surrounded by my hens, they come and sit on the bench next to me and if the sun is shinning, we all sit there quite content with the world. lol

Thank you Wib...I thought it was but was not sure. I think Guelph has extended pretty much extensively since we were there. Puslinch too, where my husband and I had a 7 acre holding...I was teaching Grades 1 to 4 at RR6 Puslinch school...Happy days!! The kids were wonderful.

Over the course of my working career I had the privilege to share in the lives of many older folk. I was impressed, almost daily, with their resilience, their joie de vivre – sometimes despite physical and mental challenges, and their vast store of wisdom garnered from many years engaging the ups and downs of life. Occasionally, I would be truly saddened by some lonely souls who had outlived their spouses and friends and who enjoyed only infrequent visits from children. Their solace was often found sitting on a park bench or along a busy sidewalk with the company of pigeons clamoring for breadcrumbs.
