Wib, this is a beautiful piece of work. We lived and worked in Guelph, Ontario for 6 years, 1956-1962, but I don't remember this. I loved the Great Lakes so much.

This painting of a sunrise over Lake of the Woods bordering Ontario and the State of Minnesota in the US was done from a reference photo taken by a friend who is a talented photographer. She once lived beside the lake a number of years ago and was visiting familiar locations this past summer with her family. Lake of the Woods is a very large and beautiful lake with a myriad of rocky islands which for many years was crown land and barren of habitation at least on the Canadian portion. Sadly many are now privately owned. Recently I’ve been experimenting with a looser more impressionistic style which I’ve truly enjoyed using with some subjects.
