Scrabble Ground
I remember my grandfather’s farm in eastern Ontario was typical of many surrounding farms in the area – small by today’s standards, carved out of the Canadian Shield with plenty of granite outcrops, hilly fields with a surplus of stones and an abundance of bushlots dotting the landscape. My grandfather and those like him were possessed of an indomitable spirit that if you planted and the weather was kind you would eventually harvest a crop.
