Wonderful tree! The trunk texture is so good!

Excellent artwork Martin.

A fabulous tree , really well drawn .

An excellent take on these wonderful trees, really well done. It brings back fond memories of when I was a kid. Greenwich Park in London had lots of ancient chestnut trees, they dropped masses of nuts to the ground. We kids used to pig out on them. We had to take some home to save them for Christmas…chestnuts roasted in front of an open fire…just wonderful.

Absolutely fabulous Martin, love everything about it

A really interesting piece Martin…

Love the way you have painted this, fabulous work !

Wonderful sketch/painting Martin -a great place to visit.

I really like this, all the gnarly branches

That is a masterpiece!!!!

Interesting, a great pen and wash sketch.

Lewis- we roasted them on a shovel on an open fire, made a slit in the shell first. We still have an open fire in one room but it’s a few years since we’ve roasted chestnuts….I’m thinking this year? Lovely sweet smell too. Martin, you’ve brought back lovely memories with this, and it’s a lovely composition and painting.

You have a keen eye. The limbs are really part of the tree as they come out of the trunk. Beautiful watercolor.

Excellent work

The light dappling through the trees creates depth and atmosphere.

Thanks for your responses everyone. Very kind. I’ve always picked up chestnuts since I being small and still can’t resist

Beautiful tree Martin. I do miss Clumber Park.

Thanks Carole. It is a great place to be and to sketch

A beautiful sketch of a majestic tree, and I love the way you have caught the light.
