Lovely texture on the stones , artistically the moon is where you want it to be .

I love the shimmering effects of light and on the stones

It sets the atmosphere of this ancient place Martin. I haven’t been to Stonehenge, only Calanais, Brodgar and Kilmartin circles but I would imagine the mood and feel of places such as these share something. I like how you have created texture on the stones and the moon looks good to me.

Beautifully done Martin.

We can’t quite appreciate the texture on the stones from a photo but I bet it really has an effect. The moon is in just the perfect place and the whole composition makes you linger and look.

There's mystery and magic to this painting. There is almost a translucency to the stones when the imagination wanders. The mood created in this painting is worthy of mighty Stonehenge. Beautiful.

Lovely and atmospheric , like it !

Dixie Heather Fiona Denise Cairistiona Marjorie and Lynne your encouraging words are very welcome and gratefully received. Other stone circles I have visited have an atmosphere but the scale of that at Stonehenge is multiplied

Thanks Valerie our comments must have crossed

Very evocative wc

Watercolour loosely based on my own reference photograph of Stonehenge on 30x22” Waterford not. I used acrylic paste to create texture on the stones prior to the washes of watercolour and added a large moon which is probably in the wrong place but I think helps artistically, hopefully.
