Breakfast Bonanza

Beautiful Thea ! What a shame it's already been pushed to page three due to a MP ! It's so fresh and colourful, I'd love breakfast at this table.

Super work Thea. Love the addition of cornflakes and of course, what a good title! The colours merge together beautifully and why doesn't my breakfast table look as good as this? lol!

Thank you so much Louise and Avril for lovely comments. Avril, I am frustrated by having posted just before an artist who loaded 12 paintings onto the gallery, but in the end what can you do? You can leave a comment asking them not to do it, but the next MP is just around the corner. Very frustrating.

Glad I ignored the annoying MP and carried on looking! This is so pretty and fresh it would look lovely on a kitchen wall!

Thank you very much Debs for keeping delving and for your lovely comment. Louise, it would be nice to re-post but so far I have never done this as even then I would be taking up two slots on the gallery with just one painting, and I can't really approve of that either. No, I'm afraid we can just live in hope that the MP's suddenly 'see the light' and react accordingly!

Lovely work as always Thea, beautiful colours and the "linking" has worked very well. I think that many of the new people to POL are just eager to show their paintings and do not realize their mistake. It's annoying but they will learn.

Thea this is very beautiful. I tend to flip through the gallery for quite a while so as debs says, people will still find you, thankfully. Love your work

Hi Thea Ros P here I agree with you totally about MP being a right old pain in the backside and I have left her a comment behind yours telling her as much! This is getting beyond a joke now isn't it!I just had to check out a fair few pages to find you, goodness knows how far back my two are that I only posted yesterday! Anyway before this turns into another 'Robert Ramble' and no one knows more about those than me, and you, eh!, This 'breakfast bonanza' is lovely, makes a highly unusual still life, it's lovely and colourful and full of interesting things and all set off by the lovely container of tulips, it is up to your usual high standards and a lovely variation on your buildings and portraits which are always so easily to recognise as being by you, this still life is also very Thea and as such beautifully rendered.

Well I found you Thea and I'm so glad I did. I think this is one of your best still lifes and your limited pallette of vibrant colours works really well.

I always wade through the pages to where I left off and ignore the MP(s), after having left a nice reminder, as this is, as she has posted before. However, this is truly gorgeous. Lovely use of colour and I like the way the colours "wash" a bit. Sparkling! I always remember you change your water often and it pays off with this kind of work.

Sunny and bright - one of those mornings you wake up and just look forward to the day. Yes, as already said - it would be lovely in a kitchen or breakfast room of a small charming hotel :) Beautiful composition.

Thank you very much Satu, Beverley, Ros and Val for your very encouraging comments. Glad you had the fortitude to search into the depth of the gallery!

Thank you very much Gudrun and ali for such positive feedback - so much appreciated.

Rebuked for rambling, Thea, so will be brief. V. good!

another great [painting - I must admit that the MPs are putting me off posting as much as I used to plus the fact that I am still finding my way around Windows 8 - but getting there.

Beautiful, bright and full of ZING! Great still life Thea.

invite to breakfast please

I think this is entirely successful. Technically accomplished, and above all, fresh and expressive - reflecting an artist's vision. If I had to quibble it would be over the lack of bacon and eggs. I've never done a still life in my, uhh, life, but this inspires me to give it a whirl!

Top class painting Thea, glad I persevered with the slow website today!! One of your best.

Robert darling, you can be as verbose as you like when extolling the virtues of one of my paintings. I shan't take you to task at all but will just bask in the fineness of your turn of phrase! Seriously, thank you for your brief but very welcome comment... always welcome from an artist of your calibre.

Thank you so much Michael, Fiona, Helen, Karyl, Glennis, Carole and Kim for such a positive response to my still life. I am very touched by your lovely comments which are much appreciated. Kim, I am really chuffed by your words 'technically accomplished' as no-one has ever used those words about anything I have painted before. I have worked hard on my technique with watercolour and so to have an artist of your skill make such a comment has given me a nice glow today!

I really like your composition, I love complicated still life with objects behind and next to one another, this works really well.

Hi Thea, just seen your lovely comment on pastel posting of this morning the girl on a show jumping pony, you are right of course I did have a busy time there getting 3 pastels ready to post, I am usually like you and would not have time to post that many at the same time, it just worked out that way this time, life usually gets in the way doesn't it, there are other things to be tending to, and to be fair of course 2 of the works are not yet finished and that is one of those so I was really pleased that you thought it was a great painting and that it reminds you of our daughters days in the pony club, I was in the local pony club myself many years ago, too many years ago thinking about it! Anyway thanks again for your lovely words, and you are naughty you know deleting that crescent painting and after all the comments you got on it as well!! Bye for now xx

It's been quite a while since I have done a still life, so it has been a nice change to have a go at one. I wanted to try using a more limited palette than I usually do, but still keeping the painting colourful and jolly. I also wanted the objects painted to come over as linked to each other with the paint flowing between them. Watercolour on Langton 200lbs.

About the Artist
Thea Cable

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
