Lovely panoramic view Thea, love the eye level in this great composition.

A lovely scene, Thea, and with loads of immediacy and atmosphere. Very much in the spirit of outdoor sketching, well done!

As Sepk has noted, you have caught the feel of an on site sketch here, well done.

You've caught that immediate feel that you were after. I like the two small figures off centre which I've just spotted and the colours with the touch of red on the larger boat.. It's all nicely balanced and these sketches all work so well on the rectangular format, across the two pages of the sketch book.

Great sketching and practice for the hand Thea, plus good references for later working up.

Great sketch, Thea. I love the spontaneity of your drawing and the subtle washes. Well done!

Thank you very much Carole, Seok, Stephen, Louise, Glennis, Derek, Mia and Michael for adding such nice comments. This was was a lot harder in a way than the others I did because, doing it at home, there was a temptation to go too slowly and be a bit laborious - so I had to be firm with myself and keep up the pace and just go for it as I would have done if I had been right there in front of the scene. I was disappointed that I couldn't do this sketch while on holiday, but there is only so much hanging about one husband and one dog will do!

Another great well balanced sketch

I agree with all those great comments above. Well done Thea!

Lovely work Thea, and love your reply comment re: husband and dog and hanging about waiting for you! Hehe, it's good to keep them waiting a little while though eh! And what a lovely result, I agree that the double page layout adds immeasurably to our enjoyment at seeing this work, always great to see a new work from you

Thank you very much Kevin, Satu and Ros for such positive comments - much appreciated. Ros, I also do really like the double page layout and I searched for quite a while to find exactly the right sized sketchbook to do this in. I was listening to a well known artist who works a lot in pen and wash and she said to always work small and having tried various formats, I think I agree with her. My sketch book is actually quite small and I think it suits the subjects that you can show in panorama. I have both A4 and A3 ones as well which I do use, but less often.

I've come late to the party [ as usual] but just wanted to add I think the format of using a small double page works really well and suits the subject matter and adds to the overall composition, well done!

I love these panoramic sketches of yours Thea, they're right up my street!

Thank you very much Gudrun, Debs and Frank for such complimentary comments - really appreciate you taking the time to leave some feedback.

Another sketch from my Blakeney holiday. This time of 'Juno' - the big boat on the right which was being worked on in Blakeney Harbour. I didn't have time to do this sketch on holiday, but took photos and made some notes in the hope that I could do it at home. I tried to do it at the same speed that I would have worked at doing on site, so as to attempt to keep that immediate feel. Pen and wash in my sketchbook.
