Stop fretting Thea, your vase of flowers is really lovely. I think you can turn your hand to anything you wish to paint such is your talent. I've now turned an unflattering shade of green with envy!!

Make that two people turning an unflattering shade of green, Thea! If this is your first solo flower painting, I'll be happy to claim it as my own if you decide to bin it! It is just sublimely gorgeous, Thea! You suggest so much using such few, well placed brushstrokes. I'm really, really flattered you took the trouble to comment on my efforts (which are appearing sadly lacking next to yours!). Thank you so very much for your kind comments.

Thea, this watercolour is delightful, I love the fresh vibrant colours...

Lovely Thea. The apple was the perfect finishing touch. It would have worked without the apple but together with that vertical and horizontal line at the back, it does seem to balance the flowers well. Good colour, as usual. Very attractive watercolour.

Thea this is gorgeous, the colours of the anemones and the vase is beautiful.

Oh Thea... this is so deligthful...I love the colours. I would be very happy to produce something like this. Well done.

Thea, this is so..so good again. I can understand why you keep wanting to improve, because you have such high standards. I can barely imagine what the outcome will be once you are completely satisfied.

Gosh - I wasn't expecting that amount of positivity. I was actually hiding behind the sofa waiting to see if anyone even bothered to comment on this! Thank you all so much - you have no idea what you do to boost my confidence.

This is beautiful Thea....it's so bright and fresh. I can only dream of producing a watercolour of this standard......gorgeous!!!

Thea, it's lovely!....Fresh, sparkling and delightful...you have a lovely, lovely way with watercolour.

Lovely, delicate and pretty!!

I really think you have cracked thr "flower" thing Thea, this is a delight.

Thea i think you are too hard on yourself. This is beautiful....a jug of flowers on a sunny window sill. I admire your delicate touch...colours are beautiful.. I think that we are our own worst critics though !

If I could paint like that, I would be a very happy lady. The vase is delightful and the apple just right where it is.

What did I tell you? Everyone loves it because it is beautiful!! A really charming and sensitive watercolour. Well done you!

I agree with all the above comments, Beautiful watercolour Thea

It's just beautiful Thea.

With very grateful thanks to all of you who have taken the time and been kind enough to leave your thoughts about my painting here. I read all the individual comments with such interest and pleasure. Painting can be a lonely pastime but with friends like this it becomes much more of a social event. Special thanks to Julia who encouraged me to post this one as I was going to leave it in the drawer.

As the man said, "I'd give my right arm to be able paint like that " Fantastic

I love it , and I think it would still shine brightly without the apple,

It's all been said Thea ......... I agree with everyone that this is sOOO fresh and colourful. Keep painting and posting them for us!

Thea, if you slogged over this one then it certainly doesn't show. The result is beautiful, a great composition and the apple was a good move, gives balance. I think if you carry on producting vases of flowers like this then you should be in possession of a full head of hair for some time to come!

Thank you all so much. I do still feel that I have a way to go before I can just paint flowers and then be happy with the results - but then perhaps that is unrealistic and this is the holy grail we all seek. All this wonderful encouragement make me want to push forward an keep experimenting to see what I can do. Thank you again.

All those comments should have encouraged you to come out from behind the sofa, but just in case they haven't I'll add mine - it's a delicate and colourful painting: it would be wonderful if we could just take paint, brush and paper and just ... make a painting, without blood, sweat and tears; I have a feeling Alan Owen can; but you know how he did it - years and years of steady practice. Back to work, then!

Like the man says, I'd give my right arm to paint like this

Oh dear..just noted that I have said this already.Thought I had but couldn't find it .Didn't notice there were three pages of comments.Sorry Thea.Anyway, goes to show you how many are impressed.Right, I'm off..where's my coat

thea - I really love this and it is not easy to achieve this in watercolour, you should be selling these - just imagine the joy this could give to someone else ? Share your talent !

Thank you very much Robert, Larry and Norah for your very kind comments. It is always lovely to find out that people like a painting. I know what you mean about practise, practise, Robert - it would be lovely to think that one day I could all dash off a quick masterpiece, but the truth is many miles from that in my case!

I love this, Thea! Beautiful work.

This is so beautiful, I've been looking at your paintings and I think they are gorgeous, the sort of standard that I aspire to

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
