Is this the one you reposted? Great control of the paint and strong pigments.

Yes, Diana, I posted it late last night and then when I looked at it this morning, I realised I had forgotten to paint in the ropes! That'll teach me to burn the midnight oil. Thank you for your valuable feedback - always appreciated.

A lovely "fresh" feel about this painting Thea, well done.

Fresh colours with a lovely "quirky" feel to the scene. Well done !

Like everything about this. The bleeding of the colours to one another and the drips, just makes for a spontaneous watercolour.

This is lovely - "RX" suggests Hastings? my home town.

Thank you all for your kind comments and feedback. Yes, Helen, it is a Hastings fishing boat, as it the Flagship one I did.

Like you say Thea a lovely kaleidoscope of rich colour, the reds and blues are lovely.

Yes, very vibrant . I like this newer style of yours, very good work.

Loose and interesting... lovely use of colour. well done

Thank you Carole, Val and Angela. Glad you are liking the style. I really feel that the penny is beginning to drop - it's taken long enough!

So glad you are happy with your painting at the moment Thea - you certainly should be - this is lovely. The colours are just beautiful and your style is loose but controlled - brilliant!

I alway's like the colours in your paintings Thea, so well controlled without going overboard......Very well done

Hi Thea. Thankyou for your encouraging comments regarding my pics. The paintings in my gallery are oils , except for the figures, which are pastel. I HAVE worked in water colour and i love it but i'm not good at it.... what's the phrase " i tend to sweat the small stuff " ! I put in too much detail and i fill in the colour too much... if i see a white space , i fill it ! I adore your water colours. I love the loose style but i know it is probably very carefully manipulated. I look forward to seeing more wonderful paintings.

Thank you Julia, Max and Kate for your kind comments. Yes, Kate, the loose style actually requires a great deal of thought and restraint at times - me and the paint can get very carried away at times! It is such a challenge that I often struggle with the decisions, but it is always so much fun and so exciting to paint this way.

I have admired your work before & spotted this one straight away in the SAA members magazine, lovely work Thea

Congratulations on this painting achieving Highly commended at Patchings 2011, well deserved recognition and a super subject! I must have missed it in the gallery. Thank-you also for your knd comment on my painting :)

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
