This has a lovely bright, breezy feel to it Thea. I can almost here the flags snapping in the breeze, great colours too.

A lovely fresh watercolour Thea in your instantly recognisable style. The boat is very well executed.

Simple and subtle as always Thea, and theres nothing wrong with being patriotic! thanks for the comment on my capri doodle. I recommend you go there. The entire Naples region is a feast for artists.

Very patriotic and why not ! I love the flags, bunting and bouys and of course the clever catchy title, typical Thea - well done!

I always like your boats with their jolly flags and bouys etc.........

Thank you very much Fiona, Paul, Tony, Debs and Sarah for your positive comments. As a painting, it is very red, white and blue - but then I suppose that's the idea!

Really very good Thea! The way that you let the colours run and merge together is very effective. I know that you resist the urge to fiddle and just let the paint do it's thing and dry. The addition of the flags add to the jaunty feel of the painting and as usual, the title is perfect :) Also, I notice your 'trademark' splatter, bottom left. I always think that splattering paint takes a bit of nerve and I usually overdo it. You have the 'splatter' knack!!! ( The whites looks white on my screen on this one as well.)

This is so beautiful Thea, the composition, the colours, ... everything is stunning, love it!!

I think Louise said it all and I can only agree. The boat has got a festive look and is beautifully painted. Well done Thea!

Thank you very much Louise, Petra and Satu for your very kind comments. As for the splatter, Louise, I just find myself letting loose with a shower of paint and it lands where it lands! I have got it drastically wrong on many occasions, though, and end up frantically dabbing to get some of the stray blobs of paint off.

Lovely sea breezy air with this Thea, I can almost smell the ozone.

Thank you very much, Val - I appreciate your lovely comment.

Hi Thea ,just browsing and saw your bright colourful little boat, its lovely, I don't get to spend as much time on the net now but I try to catch up when I can but it seems as though the whole arts world is posting now so its a lot harder than it was and still there are those who can't read ( multiple postings)

Lovely fresh painting, great colours

Thank you very much William and Glennis for stopping by and adding such nice comments. William, I know what you mean about trying to keep up with what is going on with the gallery. I posted this painting at lunchtime yesterday and by 5p.m. it was on page 3 - so many artists posting on the site now. I don't think I was affected by any MP's, but they are still out there and do cause havoc when they start posting their life's work all at once. I think you just have to take your chance and hope you pick a quieter time. Having said that I am extremely grateful to all the people who have taken the time to turn the pages, find the painting and leave a comment.

Love that very jaunty air you've created, Thea! And so appropriate for the Jubilee. Your paintings always bring a smile to my face!

Thank you so much Kirstie and Seok for your continuing support and encouragement.

Missed this one, so glad I caught it in the Top Ten. Full of fresh air, I can almost feel the breeze, lovely! Congratulations on your Top Ten paintings :)

Thank you very much, Lesley, you are very kind. However, I I have said on another painting in reply to Petra's congrats - I do actually feel rather embarrassed at taking up so much space on the top ten when there are so many beautiful paintings and more worthy artists out there than me and I would have liked them to have be given a place in the list this month.

I finished this painting and couldn't decide about it, so decided to use a bit of artistic licence to give the boat a Jubilee jaunty air. Not the best painting I have ever done, but at least it is patriotic! Watercolour on Langton 300lbs.

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
